Biography
Maria Sveinungsen is a Norwegian mezzo-soprano based in Sweden. In 2021, she completed her master's degree at the Academy of Opera in Stockholm. She has her bachelor's degree from the Royal Academy of Music in London, and before that attended Stockholm Opera Studio and Birkagården's Folkhögskola.

Maria becomes the Wagner Society in Gothenburg's 2024 Bayreuth Scholarship recipient
The jury's motivation:
"This year's winner has a clear, dramatic Wagnerian voice with long lines, as good in height as in depth. With this scholarship, we want to encourage an understanding of Wagner's world where both words, tone and interpretation are of the utmost importance."
